Pleasure & Pain

by Eclecta

/

about

Andrina Bollinger and Marena Whitcher are fishing in the Unconscious, hunting for emotions in the depths of their own bewildering psyches. Pleasure and pain can be found in the furthermost corners of this territory. There they are close to one another. Between them lie the nuances of all other imaginable emotions. Using their vocal organs, Eclecta weave a net that is fine enough to catch a wide range of impulses, to observe them in hyperzoom under the microscope, to view them through the glass of an aquarium. And then Eclecta let them go again, back into the Psyche’s vast ocean. Mastery alone grants no access to the Unconscious; the only ticket to entry is the path of playfulness. Pleasure and pain are the swings and slides of this playground. Joyful laughter can be heard emanating from “Pleasure and Pain,” a laughter that becomes a rhythm, structuring the composition, transforming a swirl of emotions from an oppressive chaos into a graceful dance.

“We go (what is it)
Fishing (what is it, what?)
For pleasure and pain (what, what, what is?)
In our (what is it)
Mind- (what is it) oceans”

lyrics

It chews and grinds
Peaks and winds
Motivates, keeps us alive

A fool bolts fun
But what is it, what is it?

If pain’s the same
Then what feels good?
One shows up, the other one not

A fool bolts fun
But what is it, what is it?

Rejecting it is easy ‘cause
I’m not easy to please
My claims are high

A key thing, sure, can’t tell it quite
Surprising, sure, can feel it right

It’s doing what you can’t do
This is it, this is it!

We go (what is it)
Fishing (what is it, what)
For pleasure and pain (what, what, what is)
In our (what is it)
Mind- (what is it) oceans
We’re throwing our lines

We go (what is it)
Collecting (what is it, what)
The good and bad (what, what, what is)
In our (what is it)
Mind- (what is it) oceans
We’re taking our lanes
